Family Impact Retreat

The OEG Family Impact Retreat is one of OEG’s flagship in-person experiences. It is a multi-day learning retreat where students and families gather to explore leadership, values, and impact together through thoughtfully designed programming, creative workshops, and shared experiences.

The retreat is designed to give students space to grow independently while also strengthening family connection.

The retreat is hosted at Paicines Ranch, an internationally recognized regenerative farm and retreat center near Pinnacles National Park. The setting plays an essential role in the experience, inviting reflection, creativity, and connection through time outdoors, shared meals, and learning in beautiful, grounded spaces.

The retreat is designed for families with middle school and high school students. Programming intentionally supports both youth-only learning spaces and intergenerational experiences, allowing young people to develop autonomy while staying connected to their families.

The retreat unfolds at a human pace.

Friday centers on arrival, ease, and relationship-building. Students explore the setting, gather for a welcoming reception, share dinner together, and meet in their first small-group Impact Circles.

Saturday is immersive and collaborative. Students engage in guided dialogue, hands-on workshops, and creative exploration, while families come together for shared meals and a Community Impact Hour. The evening includes short impact talks, creative showcases, and unstructured time for connection.

Sunday focuses on integration and closure. Students reflect on their learning, articulate what they are taking forward, and leave with clearer language for their values and next steps.

OEG is intentionally intergenerational. Families participate in shared experiences, conversations, and learning moments while also honoring young people’s need for independence and peer connection. Parents are partners in the process, not spectators, and the work is designed to strengthen both individual growth and family relationships.

By the end of the retreat, students leave with:

• Clearer language for what they care about and why

• Authentic leadership experiences rooted in action and reflection

• Mentorship that helps translate experience into meaningful personal and academic narratives

• A sense of belonging within a thoughtful, values-driven community

After participating in the OEG Family Impact Retreat, high school students are invited to apply to join the OEG Youth Advisory Board. Members participate in quarterly virtual meetings to help guide OEG’s future direction and co-plan upcoming programs. This provides hands-on experience in collaboration, governance, and youth-led decision-making.
